Description

A thick slab of slightly sour toasted levain bread gets slathered in rich cream cheese, topped with toasty and crunchy walnuts, tart blueberries, and drizzled with sweet honey and a dash of spicy cinnamon.


Ingredients

  • artisan pain au levain bread - 2 thick slices
  • cream cheese - 4 tablespoons
  • walnut pieces - 1/2 cup
  • blueberries - 1/2 cup
  • honey - 2 teaspoons
  • cinnamon - 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Begin by toasting walnuts in a dry, hot, cast-iron skillet or pan over medium heat for about 5 minutes, until they begin to brown and give off a nutty aroma, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  2. Slice two big, thick slabs from a high quality loaf of rustic, handmade levain bread.
  3. Toast until golden brown or desired toastiness. (remember, good toast can only come from good bread....don't skimp on this)
  4. Slather each toasted slab with about 2 tablespoons of cream cheese.
  5. Top with blueberries and toasted walnut pieces.
  6. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  7. Now bring your honey breakfast in bed and get the day off to a proper start. πŸ˜‰
